Nucleus of Halley's Comet

In this dramatic image we can see the nucleus of Comet Halley, taken by the Giotto spacecraft.

Taken on 2nd January 2004 by NASA's Stardust spacecraft, this image shows the nucleus of Comet 'Wild 2'. It is a very clear image of a comet nucleus, and the featured nucleus measures 5.5km in diameter. On the enlarged shot, bright jets of dust and gas can apparently be seen erupting from the right-hand image.
